LAKE COMPOUNCE - MAY 12, 2007
Though totally exhausted from a full day at Lake Compounce (and a 2+
hour ride home), I wanted to put out the word that Boulder Dash is back!
I know it never really left us, but as many can attest, 2006 was NOT
the year for BD, which was certainly worse-for-wear after it's first several
seasons, becoming quite rough and developing several potholes throughout
its course.
However, after the miracle workers we know as GCI worked on the coaster
this winter, it's running SO beautifully once again! A vast majority
of the track has been replaced. Quite a bit of the structure has
been rebuilt, and it's now smoooooooooth once again. The large drop
by the biggest boulders really kicks up the speed and you just fly
through the remainder of the course.
There is to be more work done to the coaster after this current operating
season. The General Manager explained to us the areas that will be
worked on, but those of us there today didn't notice any particular problems
with the areas he pointed out (and some of us there are quite fussy about
our coaster rides).
So for those who avoided the coaster last year (and with relatively
good reason) - get to Lake Compounce this year!
Also, I ran into the ACE Regional Rep at the park today who told me
ACE members are going to want to keep their calendar clear
for the July 28 ACE Regional event being held at the park that day, which
is going to include night ERT. Watch the ACE website for the specifics.
And don't forget about Oc~Boulder~Fest! on September 8 (details
at www.obfest.org ).Boulder Dash is back, and practically brand new once
again!
